03rd Feb – 03rd Apr ’14: Tribal Tour Guiding & Self Employment Training Programme
A two months training for Tribal Tour Guides was conducted at NITHM as part of the ST/SC sub plan. The programme encouraged students who had a minimum qualification on 10th class pass, to participate and the aim was after they complete they would be self-employed. Students who participated came from various tribal villages of Nizamabad, Adiliabad, Mahaboobnagar, Kurnool, east Godavari and Visakhapatnam. They were trained in different areas related to guiding, tourism, hospitality and entrepreneurship. Faculties were invited both from the industry and academia. As part of their Field Learning, the students were taken on a city tour and to the Tribal villages. Sri. K. Gupta, IFS, Commissioner, Tourism and Prof. P. Narayana Reddy, Director, NITHM distributed certificate to the participants during the vaidictory program.
