National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM),Gachibowli Hyderabad, conducted Indira Mahila Shakthi Bakery Management Training of Batch 1 (33 candidates trained) from 20th Aug - 23rd Aug 2025. This batch was initiated by the additional collector of Mahabubnagar, Sri Shivendra Pratap IAS to get the SHG women training in Bakery items and Millets. This four days training program is Sponsored by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Department, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad.
The program gives livelihood training to women in helping them to become successful entrepreneurs. This training was customised for bakery items such as Pineapple Pastry; Chocolate Cookies; Burger Bun; Black Forest; Osmania Biscuits; Pizza; Butter scotch cake; Muffins and Egg Puff then millet foods were Pasta; Millet fried rice and Khichdi. Apart from hand-on practical training the theory sessions were on presentation and plating techniques; permits and licenses; pantry and bakery management; food services and also Soft Skills and Grooming Maintenance that are all very important for business.
The Valedictory was conducted by SERP Hyderabad DPM Mr. Hameed; DRDO Mahabubnagar Ms. Shardha JDM and APD along Ms L Madhavi APM and NITHM Principal Chef Dr.MK Ganesh; Chef A.Mahesh and Chef Tulja Ram along with Sr. Asst. Prof. Mrs. Michelle J Francis, Training & Placement Officer from NITHM. NITHM Principal, Dr. Chef. MK Ganesh warmly welcomed the Department of SERP Team and appreciated the SHG's for their efforts to come to Hyderanad and NITHM to learn and improve their bakery skills, he also mentioned not to follow youtube but to practise and if they have doubts to call the Chefs that trained them. He wished them all the best for their bakery opening. SERP DPM Mr.Hameed interacted with the women and asked them about the training program and informed them of their privileges of availing subsidy loans to start their business. He also mentioned that many SHGs have success stories and how they help with employing other SHG women.
He appreciated a few participants for their successful businesses and how they want to grow their business with bakery items. DRDO Mahabubnagar Ms. Shardha JDM and APD congratulated the SHG women for all their efforts and making the training a success. Many shared their learning and mentioned how they are going to start their bakery business. The Indira Mahila Shakthi Bakery Management Training will definitely help many women who are being given an opportunity to become successful bakery entrepreneurs. The program was coordinated by Sr. Asst. Prof. Mrs. Michelle J Francis from NITHM,under the guidance of Professor V.Venkata Ramana Director of NITHM.
