I am delighted to know that National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management has grown tremendous since its inception from 2004. I congratulate the Director and his remarkable team of faculty and administrative staff members who are dedicated and determined to make NITHM - a Green Campus. The qualified staff together with the quality of tourism programmes run by the institution speaks by itself.

NITHM has initiated several changes since 2016:-

• First in Telangana and Installation with KOHA Library Automation software (Open source) with Self check machine user Biometric for Circulation of Books: Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) refers to a wireless system comprised of two components: tags and readers. Self Check Machine with Biometric to help easy access to the library.
• Installation of 200 kWp Grid Tied Solar PV System for power generation to the entire campus. This has not only helped in saving costs but helps with non interrupted working due to regular power cuts and failures.
• Water Harvesting – currently have 4 Pits that were developed at strategic locations in the campus for effective use of every drop of rain water for future usage. Each pit can save an annual recharge five lakh liters approximately (as per annual rainfall).
• Restoration of the Lake Ramamma Kunta , upto 3.5-acres of its natural beauty under the corporation of GHMC and in collaboration with Environmentalist Foundation of India (E.F.I).
• The walk track around the lake upto 1 kilometer with green grass along the path, beautiful lights, flower plants and music.
• The Miyawaki, a thick forest being developed in phases on 2 acres of land at the NITHM campus to improve green cover scientifically. Over 5077 different trees are currently growing at NITHM campus.
• ICCR & Foreign Collaborations, NITHM has 26 foreign scholars through ICCR from ….. Countries that are registered for NITHM programs. An International Kitchen and washrooms have been developed for the foreign scholars.
• NITHM has also entered a MoU with foreign universities such as Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Latvia. And Tourism and Service of Andijan (CTSA), established under the state committee of the Republic of Andijan, Uzbekistan for Tourism Development.
• NITHM, has also encouraged students to seek foreign exposure through Industrial Exposure Training for 6 months as per the curriculum. And also for exchange programs and competitions. Students have visited United States of America, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Latavia and Mauritius.

Through research and consultancy, NITHM always take concerted efforts to create focused policy inputs for the Government at the Central and State levels for sustainable development and practices for tourism and hospitality. With the initiates on organizing conferences, seminars, workshops and industry talk on regular basis wherein we bring the academia, government officials and industry professionals on a common platform to exchange the ideas and share the suggestions to further the shape of sustainable and responsible tourism development and planning.
