National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM), Gachibowli, Hyderabad successfully conducted a 3-day training program from 15th to 17th July 2025 on "Fish Value Added Products & Business Management" under the Indira Mahila Shakti – Mobile Fish Retail Outlets (MFROs) initiative. This program was sponsored by the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) and supported by the Department of Fisheries, Government of Telangana.
A total of 20 women beneficiaries underwent hands-on training in preparing various fish-based products such as Fish Pakoda, Fish 65, Fish Cutlet, Patra ri Mirchi, Prawns Pulao, Apollo Fish, Fish in Hot Garlic Sauce, Fish Fry, and Fish Biryani. The training also included essential sessions on hygienic food handling, presentation skills, soft skills, and grooming standards.
Following the training, all 29 women beneficiaries (including earlier batches) will soon be equipped with mobile fish trucks under the IMS–MFROs–SERP scheme, enabling them to start their own food businesses and become successful entrepreneurs.
The Valedictory Ceremony was held on 17th July at 2:30 PM.
The program was coordinated by Mrs. Michelle J. Francis under the guidance of Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, Director, NITHM. Participants shared their positive experiences, appreciating the hospitality, serene campus, and valuable learning.
