NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT conducted a Conference on 02nd Dec’25 on “Advancing Sustainability and Technology in Tourism, Hospitality and Service Studies through Strategic Industry Partnership” & Hackathon in collaboration with Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (VUAS), IPS Setubal, Portugal and Pondicherry University, Pudiucherry, which are implementing the EU funded SIPAS Project for “Advancing Sustainability and Technology in Tourism, Hospitality and Service Studies through Strategic Industry Partnerships (SIPAS www.sipas.in)” and strengthen Capacity Building in Higher Education Institutions (CBHEI).”
In continuation with the previously held meeting in April’25 where industry stakeholder and academia respectively, contributed their views to identify areas in where the academics need to revise the curriculum syllabus to bridge the gap and collaborate there stakeholders for long term sustainability and innovative learning for the tourism and hospitality students for their future job prospective.
The conference welcome address was given by Dr. M.K.Ganesh, Principal, SoH Conference Convener. He welcomed the delegates, stake holders from Industry and academia.
NITHM Director Prof. V.Venkata Ramana also welcomed the gathering and took over the conference proceeding. Prof. Sampada Kumar Swain of Pondicherry Central University spoke about the purpose of the conference was to enhance the capacity building of human resources in India and Europe. The idea is to empower faculty members, administration staff and students into the project with the involvement of industry experts not just to India and Europe but also to the entire globe.
Title: Advancing Sustainability with the core objective of developing thinking, optimizing quality of learning, teaching and assessment. Three modules are being implemented AR/VR labs, Eco Business Trends and Entrepreneurship. 577 students are being identified and the process is very scientific, therefore the finalization of the course content for the modules is being discussed in the conference.
Professor Agita Livinia, from Latvia mentioned that the academic April conference focused on opportunities for eco growth recognition of profession’s not just skilled labor, but also implementing eco friendly practices. Prof Arnis from Latvia, spoke on the upcoming SIPAS Hacakthon to be held on the 04th Dec’25 at NITHM, the need for technology advancement.
