NITHM Signs MoU with Government City College
Hyderabad, April 25, 2026: The National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government City College (Autonomous), Hyderabad, to strengthen academic collaboration, industry-oriented skill training, and student placements.
Prof. V. Venkata Ramana stated, "This MoU is a milestone in making high-quality tourism and hospitality education more accessible and career-focused for the youth of Telangana. Our aim is to reach students in remote villages, emphasizing skill development and national/international employment opportunities."
The MoU was exchanged by Dr. Niraj Gohil (Dean, Tourism, NITHM) and Prof. Ch. Prasad (Principal, Government City College Autonomous), in the presence of Prof. V. Venkata Ramana (Director, NITHM), Prof. P. Bala Bhaskar (Joint Director, CCE), and Prof. D.S.R. Rajender Singh (Joint Director, Commissioner Collegiate Education). Also in attendance were Prof. Rama (HCU, attending online), Nagesh Babu, Andep Reddy, and K. Anupama from CRISP. Key faculty members present included Dr. M.K. Ganesh (Principal, NITHM), Dr. N. Yadagiri, and Ms. K. Sirisha Murthy from NITHM, alongside Dr. Jyothi, Dr. Rajendra Kumar (Vice Principal), and Dr. Ch. Ravindra Babu from Government City College.
Points Discussed & Key Highlights:
- Comprehensive Cooperation: The MoU encompasses teaching, research, and consultancy services designed to enhance industry-academia cooperation.
- Practical Industry Insights: The agreement will provide students of City College with direct practical insights into the Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality sectors.
- Immersion Visits: Students will be exposed to emerging areas in the field through curated "immersion visits" to various industry sites.
- Curriculum Development: Collaboration on modern curricula for BBA (Tourism & Hospitality) and BA (Travel & Tourism Management) to meet global standards.
- Infrastructure & Placement: Access to classroom facilities and hostel accommodation will be provided during training, alongside dedicated guidance for apprenticeships, internships, and job placements.
Additional Initiatives:
- Apprenticeship-Embedded Degree Program (AEDP): A model combining classroom learning with real-world job training.
- Sector Skill Programs: New credit-based certificate courses in social media, travel photography, and web blogging to enhance modern career prospects.
- Wider Reach: The initiative will extend support to Government Degree Colleges in Zahirabad, Sangareddy, and Jogipet via satellite campuses and shared resources.
- Industry Mentorship: Implementation of "Hand-Holding" programs featuring industry experts and "Professors of Practice" for direct student guidance.
Prof. Venkata Ramana concluded by inviting stakeholders to actively collaborate with NITHM to further enhance the tourism and hospitality sector across Telangana
