The National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad, National Sports Day Week from 23rd to 31st August 2025 with a series of programs emphasizing health, wellness, and institutional development was Inaugurated. The week-long celebrations commenced with a Yoga Session conducted by Faculty Yoga Trainer Ms. Smriti Pandey, wherein the Director, dignitaries, faculty, staff, and students actively participated. She emphasized the importance of practicing yoga with joy and positivity, stating that happiness enhances the overall benefits of yoga. On National Sports Day, Dr. P.L.N. Patel, Senior Registrar in Non-Invasive Cardiology, Srikara Hospitals, RTC Cross Roads, delivered a keynote address on the importance of adopting a balanced lifestyle for holistic well-being. He advised that individuals should engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity daily, which may include walking, jogging, yoga, sports, or meditation.
Addressing the gathering, the Director of NITHM, Prof. V. Venkata Ramana Garu, outlined the new initiatives undertaken by the Institute. He informed about the constitution of the Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC), the promotion of infrastructure development projects, and ongoing deliberations with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), along with various tourism, travel, and hospitality associations, for the introduction of adventure and Sports tourism training programmes and specialized workshops. He further highlighted collaborative efforts with the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Government of Telangana, towards conducting women empowerment programs targeted at rural women of the State. The director called upon all stakeholders to extend their collective ownership and support in strengthening the institute, thereby ensuring that the NITHM flag continues to soar high in the tourism and hospitality sector under the leadership and guidance of Minister Sri. Jupally Krishna Rao garu, and Sri. Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Chairman of NITHM and Spl. Chief Secretary Govt. of Telangana.

Hon'ble Minister has assured complete support and cooperation from the Govt of Telangana to NITHM and advised the Director to prepare an action plan in consultation with the Spl CS and Chairman, NITHM. The Hon’ble Minister complimented the Director, faculty, staff, and students for their collective efforts in positioning NITHM as a premier training, research, and consultancy institution in the domain of tourism and hospitality.
