One-Day National Seminar on “Emerging Technologies and Future Libraries” Held at NITHM

The National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Telangana Library Association (TSLA), successfully organized a One- Day National Seminar on “Emerging Technologies and Future Libraries” at the NITHM Campus, Gachibowli. The event brought together renowned library professionals, academicians, researchers, and students from across the state to discuss the future of libraries in the digital era.

The seminar was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests, including Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman,Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), who is invited as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, Prof. Reddy highlighted the importance of transforming the education system to meet emerging global challenges. He emphasized that libraries are the heart of educational institutions and described them as temples of learning. He stated that librarians play a crucial role in awakening, inspiring, and empowering society by disseminating accurate and updated information. He stressed the need for integrating modern technologies in libraries to better serve future generations.

Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, Director of NITHM, delivered the welcome address and underlined the vital role of librarians at all levels—schools, colleges, universities, and public libraries. He stated that librarians help shape informed citizens by promoting reading habits, critical thinking, and digital literacy. He reaffirmed that librarians are essential partners in building an educated, knowledgeable, and progressive society.

Sri N. V. Satyanarayana, Chairman of Informatics India Ltd., Bangalore, the Keynote Speaker and Guest of Honour, shared expert insights on the impact of emerging technologies on library services. His keynote address emphasized digital transformation, data-driven services, and innovative library practices essential for future-ready institutions.

Prof. N. Laxman Rao, President of the Telangana Library Association, felicitated the Chief Guest and appreciated his contributions to strengthening higher education in Telangana. He reiterated TSLA’s commitment to promoting library development, reading culture, and professional empowerment across the state.

The seminar featured enriching technical sessions addressed by eminent speakers including Dr. Iranna Shettar, Deputy Librarian, NIT Warangal, Dr. Kshema Prakash, Librarian, EFLU Hyderabad and Dr. A. S. Chakravarthy, I/c University Librarian, Osmania University. A thought-provoking panel discussion followed, focusing on technological trends and their application in modern libraries..

Over a hundred library professionals, faculty members, research scholars, and students participated in the seminar, making it a productive and academically engaging event. The programme concluded with a valedictory session and certificate distribution. Vote of Thanks is given by Dr. N. Yadagiri, Librarian, NITHM.

The organizers from NITHM and TSLA expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, participants, and volunteers for contributing to the grand success of the seminar.
