The National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad, organized a series of competitions and academic activities as part of the World Tourism Day 2026 celebrations on 22 and 23 September 2026.

The activities included a Cookery Competition – “Flavors of Telangana”, coordinated by Dr. M. K. Ganesh and Chef Mahesh; a Tourism and Hospitality Quiz, coordinated by Ms. M. J. Francis; and a Presentation Competition on “Challenges and Opportunities of AR and VR in Tourism & Hospitality Sector”, coordinated by Dr. D. Maheswara Reddy and Ms. R. Vijay Lakshmi.

An Essay Writing Competition, coordinated by Dr. N. Yadagiri, was also conducted on 23 September 2026. Mr. Kaustubh Mukhopadhyay (1st Year MBA) secured the first prize, while Ms. Chava Renuka (4th Year BBA) secured the second prize.

A workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation in Tourism & Hospitality was conducted under the coordination of Dr. Niraj Gohil. The sessions focused on “Artificial Intelligence in Tourism and Hospitality: Redesigning Experiences, Operations and Business Models” and “Digital Transformation and the Future of Tourism: Strategies, Innovations and Emerging Opportunities.” The sessions were delivered by Dr. Bhanusree Yalamanchili, SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University, and Dr. B. Sasidhar, GITS, Hyderabad.

The programmes provided students with opportunities to showcase their culinary, academic, creative, communication, and technological skills, while promoting awareness of emerging trends in tourism and hospitality.
