ABSTRACT

Tourism sector is witnessing rapid growth since last decade in India. With that, it has significantly helped in up-liftment of poor section of the society who are directly or indirectly related to tourism sector. For sustainable development of tourism sector, financial inclusion plays a vital role. Sustainable development goals of tourism go parallel with the objectives of financial inclusion as it aims at inclusive growth of all sections of the society. Financial inclusion of local community involved in tourism related activities helps in boosting banking habits, providing financial aids and encouraging savings.

This study aims at identifying the role of financial inclusion in sustainable development of tourism sector in Gujarat. For the purpose of the study, data has been collected from various research papers, articles, government reports, websites and publications. The research explored various instruments of financial inclusion, which are helpful for sustainable growth of tourism sector in Gujarat. Micro finance to small entrepreneurs of tourism sector, SHG scheme for the women involved in handicraft related activities, digital payments for ancillary industries involved in tourism, etc.

are some of the ways by which financial inclusion can play vital role for sustainable and inclusive growth of tourism sector in Gujarat.
