Editor–in-chief ’s Note
Emerging Aspects of Redefining Tourism & Hospitality ‘EARTH’ is a bi-annual academic journal aimed to promote researchers in tourism, hospitality, and allied subject areas as well as communicating novel ideologies to researchers, educators, scholars, and hospitality & tourism professionals. This journal is first of its kind to be supported by the renowned Institute (NITHM) for tourism and hospitality education in India. In this issue authors from various universities have contributed their knowledge in the form of articles ranging from culinary to tourism and management. This edition consists of trending topics of tourism &hospitality management.
The First paper is about Traditional Foods – A value addition at Tourism destinations by Amalan E, and Dr. G. Anitha. In this article, the authors tries to merge Traditional Tamil Nadu food practices in combination with the geography and environment of the place. This article helps in the nature of “Tourist” and their way of exploring the destination and hunt for traditional authentic food locations that started gaining momentum in the recent past. The model is to suggest a way to promote unique traditional foods that are lesser known at select tourism destinations of Tamil Nadu.
The next article is about Tourism Education and Global Concerns: The Perception of Tourism Academicians and Industry Professionals by Rajinder Kumar, Dr. Sonia Khan, and Dr. Potukuchi Thryambakam. The article is mentioning about national and international agencies promote tourism education as a critical tool to achieve sustainable development, environmental conservation, economic development, national image building, and international peace. The tourism education curriculum, promoting inter-sartorial networking, and bridging the gap between tourism academicians and industry professionals can address the practical challenges of the above-said issues. The Third article is about Achieving Employee Sustainability through Engagement, Involvement, and Empowerment – A case study by Mrs. Michelle J. Francis & Dr. D. Maheswara Reddy. In This paper, the researcher has examined how employee engagement, involvement, and empowerment can have achieved employee sustainability.
In the Fourth article, one can find Wanderlust Women: Understanding the solo Indian women traveler by Ms. Leena George. This paper is mainly focused on the Solo Women Travellers literature review, and research findings on solo women travel. This article can be helpful for scholars and future research fellows.
The final article Tourists' perception of Homestay Tourism in Sikkim by Dr. S Kumaran, Dr. R. Kannan & Mr. Manjeet Singh is focusing on the Homestay business in the Sikkim region of India. In the report authors focussed on various aspects ranging from tourist inflow, the willingness of tourists to stay in Homestay, various places of interest, cost-effective accommodation, and traditional hospitality of the local communities has been explained.
