ABSTRACT
In the present world, food and its related activities are playing a vital role in the modern tourism as most of the people are focusing on sustainable or organic food products. This thesis investigates the effects or the impacts of Slow Food on modern tourism of Italy with a special focus on Florence. Carlo Petrini started slow food movement in Italy in 1986 for two reasons, which happened in that year. Firstly, the scandal of “wine adulterated with methanol” and secondly, the opening of a branch of McDonald’s in Piazza di Spagna, in the heart of Rome. Therefore, Italy is considered as the home for Slow Food.
